What the Quran Says
61:9. He it is Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth (Islamic Monotheism) to make it victorious over all (other) religions even though the disbelievers hate (it)
What the Apologists Want You to Believe
As DDT puts it:The verse (Quran 61:9) says nothing about fighting, or forced conversion.
Why They are Wrong
It's true. Verse 61:9 doesn't say anything about fighting... but the verses before and after do:
61:4. All loves those who fight in his cause..."
61:11. ..Strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives...
Verse 11 uses the word for Jihad, meaning holy war.
